Actual paper:
“use of any antioxidant supplement (vitamins A, C, and E; carotenoids; coenzyme Q10) both before and during treatment was associated with an increased hazard of recurrence (adjusted hazard ratio [adjHR], 1.41; 95% CI, 0.98 to 2.04; P = .06) and, to a lesser extent, death (adjHR, 1.40; 95% CI, 0.90 to 2.18; P = .14). ”
Press release:
” After accounting for other factors that might increase the risk of recurrence or death, they found patients who took any antioxidant at the outset and during chemotherapy – including carotenoids, Coenzyme Q10 and vitamins A, C, and E – were 41% more likely to have their breast cancer return and 40% more likely to die during follow-up compared to patients using no supplements. ”
If you don’t know how to read a paper. You’ll be led like a sheep into the wolf’s den.
